Cash Back Credit Cards
Cash back credit cards are an amazingly simple way that you can lower your costs for the ordinary day-to-day items you purchase. Rebates of 1% to 5% of amounts charged to the credit card for groceries, gas, pharmacy, and entertainment are common. Some credit cards add your rebates directly to your credit card account at the end of each month. Other credit card agreements require you to request the rebate and then they send you a check. A great strategy is to purchase all of your day-to-day items with your cash back credit card and pay off the balance in full each month. Instead of paying cash at the register use your card. Then at the end of the month use your cash to pay off your credit card balance. This strategy allows you to reap the cash back rewards and not pay any interest charges as long as you pay off your balance before the grace period ends.
Cash back credit cards make a lot of sense for someone who routinely pays off their balance at the end of each month. Do remember however, credit card interest can quickly negate any cash back rewards so consider your personal situation when deciding which credit card is right for you. Typically, larger purchases that will require several months to pay off are better charged to a low APR card to reduce interest charges.
